Eastbourne Search Ltd was incorporated back in 1980 when partners John and Cathy Deal lived in Eastbourne. It was formed primarily to service the Lower Hutt and lower North Island clients who did not employ their own search
clerk. It also meant these clients did not have to travel to Wellington where the legal information was held. Cathy ,as a free lance search agent, initially ran it soley before John joined her in 1985 in a marketing capacity.
Clients included lawyers, valuers, real estates, and surveyors. The service offered was to uplift settlement files and search requests and travel to Wellington to attend the Land Titles Office, Companies Office and Courts to
research the required information. She also attended property settlements on behalf of the solicitor clients. It was a same day service but the travel and work was time consuming.
All the information was paper based therefore had to be photocopied. The change in information technology has enabled their search agency grow to provide a much faster, efficient nationwide service. It now operates, with an
experienced team, from a centrally based office on The Terrace in Wellington.

John is responsible for the overall management of Eastbourne Search and the Private Investigation side of the business. His background is in advertising, sales and marketing and he also operates in conjunction with the search agency, a promotional pens and products business called Ideal Pens and Promotions. He enjoys mountainbiking , tennis, swimming, the odd game of golf and time with his family.

Prior to forming Eastbourne Search in 1980, Cathy worked for three years as a law clerk for a Lower Hutt firm of Solicitors. These days her work is varied and includes a hands-on role alongside staff, client contact, administration and marketing. She also undertakes major projects for search agency work, private investigation and the associated promotional products company.Interests are time with family and friends, a good autobiography,music,art, retail therapy and the gym. |

Leanne Hubmann, Legal Executive, has been with the firm since 1993, starting out as a search clerk and is now the Office Manager. She is also involved in our associated business Ideal Pens and Promotions. She enjoys working in the central city, being close to all the wonderful cafes with great coffee. Interests include movies, crafts, snow skiing and playing soccer with her husband.

Melissa Pearce has been with the firm since 1999 and is primarily responsible for LINZ registration, accounts title searching, courts due diligence searching and general administration. She has recently completed a BA extramurally in English and History. In her spare time she enjoys the gym and time with her son.

Becka Hemmingsen has been with the firm since 2006. She looks after the land title and document searching as well as court searching, accounts and LINZ registration work. In her spare time she enjoys swimming, reading, art & crafts and is a keen movie buff. When she can she enjoys travelling.

Penny Coley is married with two adult children and works part time. She undertakes accounts data input, title and due diligence court searching and has been with the firm periodically since 1990. She and her husband own and operate a plastic distribution company. Her interests are walking, pilates, gardening and spending time with family and friends. |
